This episode dropped 4 new characters on to The Island, which inevitably shakes things up big time, like alkaseltzer dropped into water.  The helicoptor of “rescuers” are a ghost whisperer, an archaelogist (named C.S. Lewis), a physicist and the pilot (and Naomi, who dropped in late last season and is already dead).  Three end up with Jack’s group, one ends up with Locke.  Turns out they’re not really there to rescue, but to find Ben.  Ben knows this of course.  I was going to mention last episode that Ben is utterly creepy and without likable characteristics, but did not because Ben did not have much to do with that episode.  So I’ll say that now.

I must say, I find it somewhat impressive that <i>Lost</i>, at this point, is introducing a whole slew of new characters.  And surprisingly, the show was quite up front with answers–we know why they are on The Island already (to find Ben) and who sent them (Lt. Daniels from The Wire).  Though to be fair, we don’t know why he is after Ben.  We even find out what I mentioned last episode about why Locke is so sure the rescuers aren’t there to rescue them: Walt told him!  WALT?!! WTF
