Lost #4.1: The Beginning Of The End
Pre-show: Where was I on this? Obama Campaign interrupted, and I don’t really remember. What do I recall about the season ending? Mostly, the final scene of Future Jack and Future Kate. I’m still very excited about that. More so, I would say, than any of the other characters/situations in the present time. Of course present turns into future, so perhaps it’s all related. Nah, I really am mostly only curious about Future Jack and Future Kate! To Season 4 to find out!
Post-show: That was really a pretty simple start to the season. On The Island, they all get Charlie’s pre-death message that the saviors on the boat are not who they think. This divides the group into two, Locke vs. Jack (the eternal Lost battle). It is still entirely unclear I think as to why or how Locke knows the savior boat is untrustworthy. Hurley sides with Locke.
Then in the flashforwards, FutureHurley is shown going crazy. At one point, Lieutenant Daniels from The Wire shows up in Hurley’s mental hospital. Daniels will fix everything, no doubt! (Interesting, Wiki says he was originally wanted to play Eko.) Hurley is haunted by Charlie’s Ghost, who tells Hurley they need him. Then in the end, Jack shows up to talk to Hurley. Hurley apologizes for siding with Locke, and tries to convince Jack they need to go back. NEVER, Jack says.
Not as thrilling an episode, but I guess the division of the group is important. And it’s so crazy that the mystery has shifted off of “how do they get off the island” to the flashforwards and “some must have got off the Island, became celebrities and are now hiding something from the rest of the world.”
