Desmond has more time flashes, which he suspects leads to him finding his girlfriend, Penny (or her finding them I guess). But the flashes include Charlie dying. In the end, he prevents Charlie from dying again… and thus, it’s not Penny they find. That was the catch-22, either let Charlie die or not have Penny find them. The pilot they find is another woman, who is hurt, but still recognizes Desmond. Season 2 ended with Penny trying to locate Desmond. Maybe this person is a friend or something, or is helping Penny search.

The rest of the show was about the Kate/Jack/Sawyer love triangle, which I find more interesting than I should. No word on what Juliet is up to either, or why she’s keeping an eye on everyone for Ben.
