Lost #3.3: Further Instructions
I enjoyed this episode. It seemed to be full of little details, that are probably irrelevant, but helped the story be more interesting. Like Locke being mute after The Hatch exploded–it only lasted for 15 min. of the episode, and I see no reason he had to lose his voice. Also Eko had been captured by a polar bear, but not eaten or killed. Is that relevant to anything? Also Desmond woke up from The Hatch explosion naked in the jungle. He tells Hurley something Locke said, but Locke hadn’t said that at the time. He ends up saying it at the end of the episode. Weird, is the story messing with time or something?
The flashback continued with tweaking the characters. In 3.1, Jack’s flashback, as I said earlier, was of him heartbroken and obsessing over his wife. It was not a view of Jack I was expecting. 3.2 showed Sun and Jin, nothing crazy, but Sun was having an affair with a guy. Here, Locke was shown, but after Peggy Bundy broke up with him, it appears he’s joined a hippie commune. A cop used Locke to infiltrate the commune because his profile showed him to be “open to coercion.” A hippie open to coercion? That’s not Island Locke, is it? Island Locke seems to be a reaction to Old Locke. Very interesting.
Anyway the whole point of this episode seems to be setting up Locke to go after Kate, Sawyer and Jack.
