Lost #3.2: The Glass Ballerina
Hmm, not a whole lot really crazy or dramatic in this episode. Flashback to Sun and Jin’s life, yadda yadda. The Others still have Jack, Kate and Sawyer prisoner. They make Kate and Sawyer smash rocks. Smash rocks! I don’t know why, but the meaninglessness and simplicity and mundanity (is that a word?) of that task amused me. It really somehow makes The Others all that more intriguing.
The Balloonist says his real name, Ben Linus, to Jack, and there’s more proof that he’s in charge of The Others, and that he’s watching everything from his Hatch. He tells Jack that he’s been on the island his whole life–how this plays with the Dharma Initiative, I can’t imagine. He also has contact to the outside world! He, like with Michael, seems to be getting Jack to do what he wants with the promise to send him home. What he wants him to do isn’t clear yet.
Sawyer proved himself having more of a plan, and not just a wisecracking man-of-action. That was cool. Sayid and Jin and Sun had their boat stolen, because Ben wanted it for himself.
Anyway nothing’s super-clear yet in this early season 3; just some more hints at who The Others are.
