Lost #2.21: ?

Wow, a Lost episode called “?”! They should all use that title. This was very fascinating, and I think one of the best episodes ever. Eko is told in a dream to help Jack and make Locke take him to the question mark. So Locke does, and they find another Hatch and another training video! The video tells this new hatch (#5 of 6, I think) that their job is to watch all the other hatches and record what they do. (The other hatch’s job was to enter the numbers in the computer.) This is all part of some experiment. Some crazy sociological/psychological experiment.

Meanwhile the flashback showed why Eko was in Australia. He was a priest investigating a “miracle” recovery by a girl. Her father was the creepy psychic who got upset at Claire way back whenever! Though here he admitted to be a fraud, that he is not really a psychic.

Also Libby right before she died, said “Michael,” though apparently Jack and Hurley who heard assumed it was out of concern since everyone figures he was shot too.

Anyway the whole thing was fascinating. Eko and Locke and Jack, as I figure it, are the 3 main characters of the show. The story seems to really revolve around them and what they do. Eko’s the man of faith, both literally and figuratively. He believes in the purpose of the plans, or what his dreams are telling him, and does not question. Locke is the man of logic, I think. He’s always looking at the instant and embracing it in the most logical way. Jack of course is the man of action. Sayid may be important too… maybe the man of wisdom and experience? He hasn’t really been in the season too much in awhile, certainly since Shannon’s death. But when he does he usually flashes his instincts and experience, which tend to prove correct. All the other characters seem to be there to help propel these guys as the “leaders,” but maybe I’m underestimating some of them.
