Lost #2.12: Fire + Water

As I mentioned earlier, the last episode really left me in awe of the oddness of the show. The unexpectedness of, well, everything. I don’t know what the show is doing or trying to say, and what they do and say is weird.

But that episode was followed up by this one, “Fire Plus Water,” which didn’t really mention or refer to the mystical island or serendipity or anything, but did focus on everyone acting oddly.

Mainly, Charlie. He was having vivid dreams that Claire’s baby, Aaron, was in danger. He interpreted this to mean Aaron needed to be baptized. Fair enough, but Charlie kept stealing Aaron away to try to do it–once while sleepwalking, and once he set a giant fire to distract everyone away. Really? That’s some odd behavior, and I don’t see why Charlie did it. The dreams seem to imply Charlie was dreaming that Aaron was Jesus. But I don’t think that’s a direction the show is going to take. I could be wrong on that.

Other weird behavior: Hurley was hitting on Libby (and she him), Locke punched out Charlie (though he deserved it), Eko was marking Xs on trees because “he liked them,” DriveShaft was put in diapers to shoot a commercial or a music video, and Ana asked Jack if he was “hitting that” because apparently that’s the only reason he would not want the Pirates/Others to shoot Kate in the head.
