Lost #1.23: Exodus, Part 1
Exodus! That implies a mass departure of people, and I guess that’s what was going on.
This was focused on the launching of the boat, and the 4 guys leaving on it, to the cheers and applause of The Extras With No Back-Story. Also, Crazy French Lady Who Speaks Perfect English came wandering through the camp, warning of The Others. She said something about black smoke, and then they saw black smoke! So a crew led by Jack and Crazy French Lady Who Knows English were in search of her lair, to get the explosives she has, for reasons that don’t matter/I don’t know. That one Extra Who Knew About Weather went with them and actually got some more lines! Why is that? Why does he suddenly “matter”? Halfway through their trek, he chickened out and turned back. Only to return, being chased by Mysterious Island Presence! Creepy! But the presence went the other way, and nothing really bad happened there.
Similarly, the flashbacks flashbacked to the airport prior to the plane taking off! A third exodus! That was pretty interesting–some paths crossed (Sayid and Shannon/Boone), some stories were cleared up a bit (Kate), some seemingly inconsequential (Sun spilled something on Jin!), some seemingly consequential (Jack talked to a pretty lady who was to be sitting on the back of the plane).
