Angel #1.17: Eternity

This episode began as a somewhat soap-y story about a Hollywood actress, who Angel saves from a stalker. All sorts of Hollywood stereotypes come in to play and it ends up her sleazy manager created the stalker to create buzz. Meh, I’m not a fan of shows that play on Hollywood stereotypes like that, I just don’t care. But then the actress learns Angel is a vampire and wants eternal youth. She drugs him so she can seduce him and he’d bite her. Instead the drug causes him happiness. Bad news for Angel! He turns evil for a short while, and Angelus is back! But since it’s a drug-induced happiness and not true happiness, he’s not evil for long. But I stand by what I said earlier… Angelus > Angel. I kind of wish this show was about Angelus! Every time he goes all evil, I just feel like the show he’s on goes to a whole another level. But here it was only for 10 minutes. The show kind of ended in an odd place too, as the actress just sort of disappeared. I guess she wasn’t important, just a tool to remind viewers that Angel constantly lives on the line–he could fairly easily flip to Angelus anytime.
