Lost #1.13: Hearts And Minds
This episode finally had the backstory of Boone and Shannon. I think only Michael and his son, and Hurley, have flashbacks to be told. This one was alright, it made it clear what everyone’s been expecting for awhile–Boone’s in love with his sister, but they’re not really related by blood so it’s okay! I’m jumping ahead.
The flashback occured after Locke tied up Boone for wanting to tell Shannon about the Steel Hatch Door To Nowhere they found in the ground. While tied up, Boone went mad, flashing back the story, and then seeing Shannon tied up, rescuing her, and then she got killed while they fled the Phantom Island Presence. But she didn’t die, it was all in his mind.
Besides their story, the show had a lot of little moments, like Kate finding out Sun speaks English, Charlie struggling with his detox and the disappearence of Claire (though nobody else seems overly concerned with her abduction), Hurley and Jin having a weird phony argument even though they don’t speak the same language.
As for the entire season, I feel like I have no idea what I am watching. There are never really any hints, let alone answers, towards what I think is the Big Question: where are they? Why did the plane crash? They just all go about their business/try to survive and stuff happens, and then next episode, that happens again. Maybe as I get closer to the end of the season here, more hints and things will come out to satisfy me.
