Ah so, what does a Batman-style superhero tale need? A friendly cop who can be the legitimate crimefighter! And that’s what the show gets in this episode. But Angel’s Commissioner Gordon is Kate, a blonde cop. Both are after some killer, who frequents a bar. Turns out it’s an X-Files-style demon, who jumps from human body to human body trying to survive. In fact, I’d wager good money X-Files used that monster at some point. Regardless, in the end Angel and Kate both realize they’re fighting bad guys together and all is happy. Angel gets to return to his office and sit in the dark, happily. That was a great touch–his lurking solitude, though familiar from Buffy, is growing on me here quickly.
