Lost #1.6: House Of The Rising Sun

This episode had some pretty dramatic stories behind it.

Mainly, it was the flashback about Sun and her husband. That’s a pretty crazy story, how she was moments away from walking away from him never to be found again, only to change her mind at the last second and end up on the plane with him, which crashes and now they’re stranded. However, besides some mysteriousness about his job, and some bossiness, it was not quite clear why she was going to fake her own death–seemed kind of a drastic reaction? Not that I am defending the husband, I am not, he seemed he could be abusive, and he is still on my fishy list. And I like Sun and am pretty curious where this all goes with them. But I do not know if they were just being vague about what drove her to fake her own death, or they felt what they showed was enough. If someone is going to fake their own death, there should be a darned good reason though, right?

Similarly, Jack’s plan to have everyone move to the caves could also have been much more dramatic than it ended up. It is a big decision. But the whole time I was like, “Can’t some go, and some stay?” and then in the end, that is what happened, without much argument or compromise. And then Willie Nelson sang a song.

Also I am curious, why they had to hunt boar, when they could just eat the polar bear they shot earlier?

Also, the Jack and Kate flirtation–or at least, having all the other people ask them about it–seems forced, to make the viewer get the point. Knock that off, writers.
