I liked the 2nd half of the pilot much more than the first.  It was tenser, and made me more curious about certain things.  Things like, what’s Kate’s story?  Why does everyone seem relatively nonchalant, reading comic books (The Kid), writing in diaries (Pregnant Lady), playing backgammon (Weird Guy), in their bikinis (both the h0t babes, and both in the first 10 minutes, no less)?  The polar bear was curious, though I believe I am far less interested in Merry Brandybuck’s cliffhanger question (”guys, where are we?”) than I am in why a plane fell apart in the sky.
