The X-Files #1.12: Fire

Things in this episode:

1. Fire!  It was about a guy who could create fire, like he is in Heroes or an X-Man or something.
2. Bizarro Mulder: A brilliant British agent/Mulder’s ex-girlfriend showed up investigating the arsons.  This made Scully all eye-rolly, because she keeps flirting with Mulder.
3. Mulder says he has a photographic memory!  Explains quite a bit.
4. Mulder is deathly afraid of fire.  Though he confronts it, and I kind of imagine this fear never comes up again in the series.  Just a plot device–to make some drama in some of the scenes (Mulder panicking) and to balance it (he conquers his fear at the same time he let’s the memory of his ex-girlfriend go finally).
5. Have I mentioned how Scully keeps a Doogie Howser-esque diary at the end of episodes?  She often sits in the dark at her computer, writing what she believes explains the case (while her voice reads it out loud).
6. That’s about it–despite the look at Scully and Mulder’s relationship, spurred by his ex showing up, and that pyrokinetics is awesome, the show was sort of cheesy and lame.
