Lost #3.19: The Brig

This was a pretty good episode. There was no real flashback, just showing what Locke had been up to since he stayed behind with The Others. Ben had tried to get Locke to kill his father, though there was still no real explanation about how his father got there. The whole thing feels like mind games–Ben is trying to convince Locke of something. But Locke seems like he is playing mind games with Ben. Locke refuses to kill his father though, and then for some reason he gets Sawyer to do it. Sawyer does. Now Locke can go back to The Others with the corpse of his father, proving he is special and making The Others happy.

Also Sayid talks to Naomi, the lady who fell from the sky, and I was right, she was working for Desmond’s girlfriend Penny. She again tells them that Flight 815 had been found, and everyone was dead. This goes with Locke’s father, who tries to convince Locke and Sawyer that they’re in hell, dead, not on an island. I hope this isn’t THE explanation. It feels like a bit of a cop-out. But it is entertaining as a red herring theory. Anyway, nobody wants to tell Jack about Naomi, because they don’t trust him after spending time with The Others, and being so cozy with Juliet. Nobody, that is, except Kate, who immediately goes and tells Jack (and Juliet!) all about it. That’s the first time I’ve been like, Kate what are you doing?! She’s usually fairly together.

Also Locke gives Sawyer the tape Juliet made explaining their plans to take Sun, so that he can show the whole camp Juliet is a spy.

I think that covers everything. I can tell, not just because I know how many episodes remain this season, that they’re trying to build up to something here, and at least provide some real steps in the story. The last few episodes have been good for that. And it’s those episodes which are the best!
