The X-Files #1.6: Shadows

Shadows! Scully thinks they’re chasing shadows, but Mulder thinks they’re chasing a ghost. Some secretary is constantly around mysterious deaths. Turns it out is her boss, a ghost, who is protecting her and cluing everyone in on some sort of business scandal. Nothing much more worth mentioning.

There’s two things I’ve noticed in these early episodes. One, it’s not as scary as I remember it. The shows are a little spooky and all, but certainly not creepy or frightening or nightmare-inducing. Yet, anyway. Two, the show is a little dated sometimes–these episodes ran in the fall of 1993. When they have to investigate someone, instead of Google, they go to microfiche. Also there’s been scenes of Mulder trying to find a pay phone, though in this episode, he actually had his own private cellphone. It was not quite as big as a Zack Morris phone* though. The stories aren’t dated, but a lo of the look and feel of the show in this first season is.

*I couldn’t find a pic of Zack with one, but here’s McCain with a Zack phone:
