Lost #3.5: The Cost Of Living

I dunno, this episode was boring. Flashbacks were about Eko and him trying to pick up where his brother left off as a priest, until killing some men who wanted to kill him for some reason I don’t know. Then on the island, Eko was seeing visions of his brother (again) and following them (again). He’s done this before! There’s no reason for this to be going on again. *shrug* In the end, though, Eko got killed by Smoke. Surprise! It’s too bad, despite this stupid episode, I liked Eko, especially when he was all bad-ass.

Otherwise, Jack finds out Ben’s the one with the spinal tumor. But Pretty Blonde Lady, who seems to be in some sort of Jack/Locke-type power struggle with Ben, wants Jack to fake it. In the best part of this episode, she shows Jack a video of herself holding signs telling him this, Subterranean Homesick Blues-style, all the while telling Jack orally to save Ben (since Ben was probably listening in). What will Jack do? He’s a doctor, he saves people!

This season is kinda boring so far. It’s not nearly as thought-provoking as I found season 2. They haven’t really developed anything yet, except Jack, Kate and Sawyer being prisoners of The Others. Who The Others are is also I guess supposed to be foremost–they have a lot of contact to the outside world, information about all the survivors, technology, weird cult-like clothes, etc.
