Lost #2.6: Abandoned
OK, basketball is over
so now I will pick up and try to get through some more Lost in my time.
Today’s blog will be in real time, I’ll type as I watch! Hooray for the internets!
Previously on Lost–focused on Boone dying. Why is that important? Also showed that creepy shot of the teddy bear tied to the foot of The Other.
Sayid has built a fancy tent house for Shannen, so they can make out more, and talk in cliches, while overly sympathetic music plays. (I had no idea they were still “together” to be honest.)
Sawyer and Michael and Mr. Ecko and The Pretty Bossy Lady are still bickering, and hiking in single file around the island for lord only knows why. The dialogue for this episode seems esp. bad and the “theme” thing hasn’t hit yet.
Shannon just saw Walt, dripping wet and talking in tongues. Sayid doesn’t believe her so she storms away. She uses the dog to try to find Walt’s scent, but the dog just leads her to her brother’s grave.
Claire seems to be getting annoyed at Charlie. As are we all! I hope he has a relapse on his drug addiction with the dope on that crashed plane that killed Boone. Is that wrong of me?
Flashback to Shannon finding out her father died.
Now I know why they were walking through the jungle, there was just an expository speech by Pretty Bossy Lady about exactly that–The Others are smart and scary and picking them off. Dang, I already knew that! Tell me more!
More silly Shannon and Sayid conversation. Sayid went from bad-ass to this?
Hey look flashbacks about Shannon’s father’s will and trusts! Just like studying for the bar exam! Hopefully there’ll be an essay about an evil stepmother keeping her husband’s property from his daughter, I’ll know exactly what to write!
Locke’s getting snippy at Charlie too.
Sawyer passed out in Michael’s arms! So they build a thing to carry him in and carry him in it.
OH SHIT, freaky whispering in the jungle!
Now it’s raining on Shannon and Sayid and their third lame conversation of the episode, where he says he loves her and believes her and it’s all too lame. Then they hear the whispering too! Man that’s creepy! Shannon sees Walt, runs off, and GETS SHOT BY BOSSY LADY!
The good thing, is this caused Sayid to get angry and the final scene has him turning bad-ass again in his rage! No more romantic Sayid!
This was weird episode to come back on after a few weeks off, if you couldn’t tell. Jack and Kate weren’t even hinted at, nor was The Hatch. The dialogue was bad throughout, in a solid three of the four main storylines (Shannon/Sayid, Sawyer and Bossy Lady’s lines, the flashback; only the Charlie stuff was okay).
BUT, the whispering was about the scariest thing yet on the show–I’m listening on headphones!–, and the final scene was quite a cliffhanger.
