Lost #2.2: Adrift
While this wasn’t the most dramatic episode, it led to a lot of questions. I am very interested in what is going on in the Hatch, and I did enjoy the Back To The Future 2-style storytelling–showing the story behind the story shown in the last episode. After Kate dropped down there, Locke followed. Locke then tried to be friendly with Crazy Smoothie Guy, while Kate was locked up in a food closet and got to eat candy. Then the story caught up with the last episode, when Jack showed up down there. I don’t know if it’s meaningful that they told the story out of order (Jack’s trip was shown before Locke’s, though Locke went down there first).
Besides the obvious questions, I’m wondering, Why did Smoothie Guy make Locke punch the code into the old computer (so old it has an EXECUTE key)? The sign indicated something called DHARMA which I guess is important? Why does he like to play crappy 80s music loudly?
The flashback showed a little more about when Michael’s custody battle for Walt, when he lost him the first time, not to Creepy Pirates, but to his mother who took him to Amsterdam. In his final goodbye to little Walt, he gave him a toy polar bear! How’s that for a bad omen?
Also the show also finally caught up with the end of season 1, and showed what was happening with Michael and Sawyer and Jin after their raft was shot and Walt was kidnapped by Creepy Pirates. What was happening with them? Not much! Jin was gone, and Michael and Sawyer were just floating around, being crabby and sad, avoiding sharks. Until they ended up on the island and found Jin fleeing The Others. OMGZ, WHAT!? Cliffhanger.
