Angel #3.6: Billy

“Billy” was a mix of The Shining horror/hotel, X-Files monster chasing, and Buffy feminism. Billy is a demon who makes any man who comes in contact with him violently misogynistic. This led to two contradictory conclusions. First, Angel explains how he didn’t become misogynistic because he lost his anger and rage a long time ago (which explains his broodiness!). But then, Wesley did become misogynist, and in discussing this with Fred–they decide that it wasn’t something buried inside him, just something that Billy did to people. So which was it? Billy turning people evil, or bringing out the evil? My guess is that Wesley is wrong and he has the rage inside–they’ve hinted through all 3 seasons at his anger at his father.

The bonus revelation is that Wesley likes Fred! They kind of hinted so far at Gunn liking her too, but I like Wesley for this better. Also it made me realize that the romantic storylines is what’s missing from Angel that was always kind of fun about Buffy (except when it was boring guys like Riley).
