Angel #1.14: I’ve Got You Under My Skin

This episode began with Angel accidentally calling Wesley “Doyle.” Apparently he misses him a lot, who knew? Then Angel and Wesley go and find a family with a boy who is possessed by a demon. They exorcise it, and then find out from the demon that the boy is evil voidy blackness. They rush back and save the boy’s family from burning down their house. This twist was pretty unexpected to me, but I am so used to evil (and, heck, also in most cases, good) being explained by mythology or demons or whatnot in the Buffyverse, so the lack of explanation to why/how this boy is evil was kind of unsatisfying. He just is, I guess.

Other than that, there was more hints at welcoming Wesley into the fold as a trusted partner. Also some depth was hinted at about Wesley struggling with the relationship with his father (I can’t remember if that was ever in Buffy or is a new depth).
