Lost #3.9: Stranger In A Strange Land

This episode answered the burning question that nobody was asking: what does Jack’s tattoo mean? Also, Kate and Sawyer make it back to The Island, though not to their camp right yet. They send Karl off to find Alex on his own. And Jack and all The Others in the prison/cage area move back to their real land (I assume they’re headed to the weird suburbia place they showed briefly at one point). Jack and Juliet seem to be connecting to figure some way out.

The flashback was to Jack again (already another Jack one?). This time he’s on vacation in Phuket, phuking around. He gets a tattoo from the always-half-naked lady he’d been phuking, who reads people and then tattoos what she sees in them on their arm. According to Isobel (the creepy sheriff of The Others), Jack’s tattoo says something like “He walks among us, but he is not one of us” in Chinese characters. (A “stranger in a strange land,” I guess.) Jack believes it indicates he’s a leader, but others find it more ironic–indicating he’s an outsider.
